Department: Electrical
Learning isn’t just about sitting in lectures—it’s about getting hands-on experience, collaborating with others, and preparing for real-world challenges. In our series, A Day in the Life of a BIP Student, we take you inside the daily routine of our students.
Today, we follow Brian Wangota, an Electrical student whose days are filled with innovation, teamwork, and the thrill of turning engineering concepts into practical solutions.
The alarm buzzes at 6:00 AM, marking the start of another busy and exciting day. Whether it’s a cold splash of water to jolt the senses or a warm shower to ease into the morning, Brian believes a fresh start is key to staying sharp. After freshening up, he takes a few moments to review his schedule, mentally gearing up for the challenges ahead.
By 7:30 AM, it’s time for breakfast—a moment to fuel up and catch up with friends in the dining hall. The air buzzes with laughter and conversation, setting a positive tone for the day. By 8:00 AM, he’s ready to dive into a full day of learning, hands-on projects, and discovery.
From 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Brian is in class, absorbing knowledge from expert trainers who bring engineering to life. Every lecture is more than just theory—it’s an opportunity to explore new concepts, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and ask the kinds of questions that spark deeper understanding.
One of his favorite parts? Student presentations. Not only do they reinforce his learning, but they also build his confidence in public speaking—a skill just as crucial as technical expertise in the professional world.
By 2:00 PM, Brian is exactly where he wants to be—the electrical workshop. This is where the morning’s lessons transform into real-world applications. With tools in hand, he designs and assembles electrical circuits, troubleshooting and fine-tuning his work with his peers.
Every session is an exciting challenge, filled with problem-solving, creativity, and hands-on experience. It’s one thing to learn about circuits in a classroom; it’s another to build them from scratch. For Brian, this is where the real magic happens.
By 1:00 PM, it’s time to hit pause and recharge. But lunch isn’t just about the food—it’s about community. Sitting with students from different departments, Brian enjoys conversations that range from course topics to weekend plans.
It’s also a moment to relax, check in on social media, and take a breather before the next round of hands-on work.
The afternoon is all about teamwork. Brian and his classmates collaborate on engineering projects that tackle real-world problems. From brainstorming to sketching out blueprints to bringing ideas to life, every project is a step closer to mastering the craft.
With their trainer guiding them, they refine their designs, troubleshoot issues, and experiment with new techniques. Every success, no matter how small, is a victory—proof that they’re learning, growing, and getting one step closer to becoming skilled engineers.
At 4:30 PM, Brian heads to the library to review notes, tackle assignments, and reinforce what he learned that day. After an hour of focused work, it’s time to unwind with a game of chess with friends.
Chess is more than just a pastime—it sharpens his strategic thinking, patience, and focus. Much like engineering, it requires planning several moves ahead and thinking critically about every decision.
As evening falls, Brian sticks to his routine. 7:00 PM—a refreshing shower. 7:30 PM—dinner. Then, he heads to the IT room for research and assignments, staying until 10:00 PM to ensure he’s fully prepared for the next day.
Before turning in for the night, he organizes his research, sets reminders, and mentally gears up for another productive day at BIP.
For Brian, every day is a new opportunity—a chance to learn, grow, and take another step toward his dream of becoming an electrical engineer. Living on campus means he’s fully immersed in the experience, surrounded by expert trainers, state-of-the-art resources, and a community of passionate learners.
