For Evaryne Nalwanga, plumbing was more than just a subject she studied at Busoga International Polytechnic (BIP)—it was the key that opened the door to a fulfilling career path. Shortly after graduating, Evaryne secured a position with ROKO Construction, where her hard work and outstanding performance did not go unnoticed. Impressed by her dedication, Uganda Police Air Force offered her a permanent contract at Chimaka, where she played a crucial role in constructing office spaces—an achievement that marked her growing reputation as a reliable professional.
Today, Evaryne serves as the Assistant Facility Manager, a role that demands versatility and technical expertise. Thanks to her BIP plumbing training, she can read and interpret structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings—a skill that allows her to quickly trace and fix leaks, valve connections, and even compressor issues. Her attention to safety, another lesson embedded in BIP’s curriculum, helps her carry out tasks with minimal risk.
Evaryne’s talent and reliability have earned her a big platform at the airways facilities, where she often does repairs either at a discounted rate or free of charge. In turn, the organization has helped her secure additional domestic plumbing contracts beyond her regular job. These side projects provide her with extra income and the satisfaction of knowing her skills are in high demand.
